Asia Tech Wire (July 2) -- Renault's electric vehicle unit Ampere plans to develop battery technology in partnership with Asian battery makers LG Energy Solution and CATL.

Ampere announced Monday that it will incorporate lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology into its mass production program and work with suppliers LG Energy Solution and CATL to build a value chain in Europe.

The companies will supply Ampere with LFP batteries for a number of models under the Renault and Alpine brands, the statement said.

Ampere said the company will also work with South Korea's LG Energy Solution to develop Cell-to-Pack technology.

"The integration of LFP and Cell-to-Pack technologies will enable Ampere to reduce by around 20% the cost of batteries in its vehicles from beginning of 2026," it said.
