Asia Tech Wire (Sep 13) -- Chinese electric car maker Xpeng will mass produce its first extended-range car next year, according to 36Kr.

A report from 36Kr says that Xpeng's extended-range electric car project is already clear, with the company having finalized its core components in the first half of this year.

Xpeng is in full swing to develop its first extended-range vehicle, which is due to go into mass production in the second half of 2025 at its second factory in Guangzhou's Huangpu district.

"No later than the fourth quarter of next year," a source said, by which time Xpeng will have formed a product array of two major models, battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle.

Xpeng's first extended-range vehicle will reportedly be a large SUV, with an internal project code-named G01, which is under development using the G9 as a prototype, and mainly targeting the 200,000 yuan-plus price zone."
