Asia Tech Wire (July 22) -- South Korean battery maker LG Energy Solution (LGES) will delay the completion of its third plant in the U.S. state of Michigan due to weak demand for electric vehicles, according to The Korea Economic Daily.
The plant, which is a joint venture with U.S. automaker General Motors (GM), was due to begin operations in the first half of 2025.
LGES and GM invested a total of $2.6 billion to begin construction of the plant in 2022.
LGES said it was adjusting the overall pace of investment, but not stopping construction, and that the company was taking various measures to operate flexibly depending on market conditions.
