Asia Tech Wire (Nov 18) -- Google Cloud announced Monday that Watson Yin Shiming has joined the company as president of Greater China.

Prior to joining Google Cloud, Yin served as chief operating officer at Weimob Inc. (2013. HK), a provider of cloud-based business and marketing solutions in China, and as vice president of Baidu Inc. (9888.HK).

His career also includes leadership roles at Apple and German software company SAP.

This is the first senior-level change at Google Cloud China in nearly six years, with Kathy Lee last serving as Google Cloud's president of Greater China.

According to market sources, the main reason for the change is internal power struggle. Previously, there have been rumors of discord between Lee and Google Asia Pacific.
