Asia Tech Wire (Nov 15) -- Chinese electric car maker Leapmotor debuted its new car, the B10, at the Auto Guangzhou 2024 on Friday.
The B10 is the first model in Leapmotor's B-Series, built on its latest LEAP 3.5 architecture and available in a variety of color schemes.
Leapmotor revealed that, in terms of manufacturing, the B10 is designed and developed according to European standards, and the entire B-series meets EU certification standards.
According to Leapmotor, the chassis of the B-series models is tuned by the Leapmotor chassis team together with a team of Maserati chassis masters under Stellantis N.V.
In addition to the B10, Leapmotor will launch two other B Series products globally next year.
Leapmotor said the B10 will go on sale in the first quarter of next year.
Li Cao, senior vice president of Leapmotor, said the B10 is the first deeply co-created model after Leapmotor and Stellantis entered into a global strategic partnership.
Asked what he thought of Leapmotor's "affordable Li Auto" or "small Li Auto" labeling, Cao said he didn't reject the title, saying that Li Auto was a model for Leapmotor to follow, but that Leapmotor has its own unique personality and charm.
"Please don't put this label on Leapmotor, Leapmotor is Leapmotor," he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Leapmotor disclosed that the company is working on the D-Series, covering MPV models that will not cost more than 300,000 yuan and is expected to hit the market in 2026.
