Jul.29,2024

Asia Tech Wire (July 29) -- Lei Jun, founder of Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi, recently said that Xiaomi cars will go global at the right time.

During the 2024 Paris Olympics, Lei's first stop in his European research came to France, where he spoke with local Xiaomi fans.

A fan asked if it was possible for Xiaomi fans to buy the Xiaomi SU7 in France, maybe before 2030?

In response, Lei said, "OK, our goal is the top five in the world, so we will definitely go global at the right time."

Xiaomi's first electric car, the SU7, debuted in March, selling for between 215,900 yuan and 299,900 yuan.

Lei said in mid-July that Xiaomi expects to meet its full-year sales target of 100,000 EVs ahead of schedule in early November.
