Asia Tech Wire (Aug 19) -- Chinese tech company Xiaomi is studying entering the European electric car market.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun and President Lu Weibing and Vice President Wang Xiaoyan were live-streaming from a Xiaomi car summer test base in Turpan on Saturday.

Lei and Lu kicked off this live broadcast after returning from a business trip to Europe.

During the European trip, Lei, Lu and other Xiaomi executives visited BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Leica to explore the possibility of further cooperation.

Lu said in the live broadcast that although Europe is much slower than China in the process of new energy transition, Xiaomi should have respect for the automotive market.

"Now that Xiaomi phones are well-known and reputable in Europe, Xiaomi is studying when Xiaomi cars will enter Europe," Lu said.
