Actually, the news of Xiaomi’s car manufacturing has spread since 2021. On 19 February, a journalist team disclosed that Xiaomi was to make electric vehicles. That weekend, Xiaomi responded that it has not yet stepped into the stage of project approval.
One month later, A Chinese news outlet reported that Xiaomi expected to establish a project on car manufacturing in April. Later, there was a rumor that the company’s co-founder and Vice President, Wang Chuan was to be in charge of the car manufacturing project.
Now a meddle manager from Xiaomi denied the latest rumor about EVs manufacturing, which has stirred up discussions on Internet. No one knows whether Mr. Xu is denying that Xiaomi makes electric cars, or that it develops a partnership with Great Wall Motor.
It’s likely that Xiaomi does not want to make EVs. After all, it didn't register the trademark “Xiaomi car” before so many rumors appeared. But perhaps, Xiaomi will register another electric car trademark.
