Asian Tech Press (OcT 27) -- India plans to lobby Tesla, Samsung, LG Energy and other major global firms to produce batteries locally, Reuters reported on Tuesday.
The report said India plans to carry out the lobbying initiative to encourage these companies to invest in producing batteries locally as the country seeks to establish a domestic supply chain for clean transport, according to government sources.
Starting next month, India will host five roadshows in the United States, Germany, France, South Korea and Japan to lobby battery makers for local production.
And for now, Tesla, LG Energy and Samsung will be invited to attend, but the list of representatives has not yet been determined. Other target companies include Swedish battery developer Northvolt AB, as well as Japan's Panasonic and Toshiba, a source familiar with the matter said.
