Asia Tech Wire (Oct 25) -- Apple supplier Hon Hai's Indian subsidiary may set up a new iPhone 16 assembly line.
Hon Hai, also known as Foxconn, announced on Thursday that its Indian subsidiary, Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development Private. Limited (FHH), has acquired machinery and equipment with a cumulative total transaction amount of US$31.845 million since November 15, 2023.
The target of this acquisition is Apple Operations Limited. And in mid-July last year, Hon Hai also announced another transaction related to the Apple subsidiary.
Hon Hai pointed out that the relevant transactions are for operational needs.
Industry sources analyzed that the move by Hon Hai's Indian subsidiary is mainly to cope with the need to manufacture Apple's new iPhone 16 in India.
This means that the Hon Hai subsidiary may set up a new assembly line to manufacture iPhone 16 in India.
