Asian Tech Press (Mar. 9) -- Hyundai's all-electric IONIQ 5 has been named the UK Car of the Year 2022, the company said Tuesday.

Ten models were selected and voted as the best by a panel of 29 motoring journalists working in the UK, including Top Gear, with the Hyundai IONIQ 5 receiving the highest rating.

The Korean automaker said since its introduction in 2020, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 has won many admirers, range of up to 298 miles and the ability to rapid recharge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.

The IONIQ 5 is the first electric vehicle under Hyundai's new all-electric IONIQ sub-brand and the first to debut on the company's industry-disrupting new Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).

In May 2021, the model was announced with a starting price of £36,995 in the UK market, with seven models available, topping out at £48,145.
