Asian Tech Press (Apr. 7) -- U.S. Crypto exchange Coinbase Global Inc. (COIN:NASDAQ GS) plans to hire hire over 1,000 employees in India this year alone, pushing its expansion plans in the Asian country.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong attended on Thursday a crypto community event in Bangalore to discuss the future of crypto and web3 in India.

Armstrong said at the event that the company's crypto trading services are available to users in India, and customers can use the Unified Payments Interface, the nationwide quick-payments network, to directly purchase cryptocurrencies on its exchange.

The company also announced it is making "a long term investment" in India.
