Asia Tech Wire (June 17) -- News circulated on the Internet on Monday that Chinese battery giant CATL called on its employees to struggle for 100 days under the 896 work schedule.

Recently, a document circulating on the Internet shows that CATL has issued a call to its employees to "struggle for 100 days".

According to the document, in order to better complete the tasks assigned by the organization and accelerate the achievement of various tasks, the company called on employees with the rank of JG7 and above to struggle for 100 days.

Specifically, these eligible from June 12, in accordance with the 896 work schedule, that is, working from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, 6 days per week, to "struggle" a total of 100 days.

In addition, the document also has a supplementary notice stating that "foreign employees are not mandatory, according to their wishes."

A CATL employee said on Monday that this was indeed the case.

The employee said a departmental meeting took place last Friday to inform the matter verbally, adding, "Earlier there was and is overtime work, but it is not mandatory until 9 p.m."

Another source said the call was for employees above a certain level, not all employees.

In response, a CATL source told Chinese media outlet 21st Century Business Herald on Monday afternoon, "The matter is a misinterpretation of rumor and the company has not issued such a regulation."

Some netizens claimed that 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. had previously been the default working hours at CATL.

And it's not the first time that the company has called for "100 days of struggle". A report in 2022 mentioned that 100 days of struggle has become normalized at CATL.
