Asia Tech Wire (July 18) -- TikTok owner ByteDance's AI model will support the latest Samsung foldable phones in China.

South Korea's Samsung Electronics unveiled its next-generation Galaxy Z series smartphones for the Chinese market on Wednesday.

At the event, Samsung Electronics announced a partnership with ByteDance's cloud service platform Volcano Engine to access the Doubao large language models (LLMs) for the intelligent assistant and AI vision of the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 phones.

Unlike in the Chinese market, Samsung unveiled its deep collaboration with Google Gemini at an overseas launch event.

TM Roh, head of Samsung's mobile experience business, had said after that overseas launch that Samsung was actively developing Galaxy AI features for the Chinese market.

Samsung plans to revitalize Samsung's presence and influence in the Chinese market amidst the AI boom.
