Asia Tech Wire (Sep 18) -- TikTok owner ByteDance has denied a report that it is working with TSMC on AI chips.
Responding to a media report that it plans to collaborate with TSMC on AI chips, ByteDance said on Wednesday, "The report is untrue."
ByteDance said the company does have some exploration in the chip field, but it is still in the early stages, mainly focusing on cost optimization in businesses such as recommendation and advertising, and all projects are also fully compliant with relevant trade control regulations.
Citing people familiar with the matter, The Information previously reported that ByteDance plans to work with TSMC to mass-produce two of its self-designed AI chips by 2026.
