At the 2021 Global Digital Economic Conference opening today, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Group Lei Jun delivered a keynote speech on "Grasping Opportunities in the Digital Economy Empowering Industry Collaborative Innovation."
Lei Jun said that the digital economy helps enterprises reduce costs, increase efficiency, and have trans-generational significance for world economic growth. Xiaomi's 11 years of entrepreneurship is the exploration of the digital economy. To use the Internet to make cell phones is to use the digital economy to explore the development of the real economy.
He shared that after being selected as one of the top 500 in the world in 2019, Xiaomi was selected again this year and ranked 338th. In addition, according to the latest IDC report, Xiaomi's global share of smartphones surpassed Apple for the first time and was promoted to the second in the world.
Lei Jun said that the development of the digital economy has great vitality and the development of thinking that integrates the virtual and real economy.
First of all, open empowerment is an essential feature of the digital economy. Relying on data production factors and data technology drive, available ecology to avoid duplication of construction, so that different tracks of enterprises to empower each other, integrated development.
Secondly, the digital economy will drive all consumption scenarios.
Finally, intelligent manufacturing will become the primary trend of digital production. Lei Jun introduced the first phase of the Xiaomi smart factory put into operation at the beginning of last year, with an annual production capacity of one million units of ultra-high-end cell phones on fully automated production lines; the second phase started in July this year and is expected to be put into operation at the end of the year after next, with an annual production capacity of 10 million units of high-end smartphones.
Lei Jun believes that the digital economy will become the core new driving force for development in the next decade, helping Chinese companies rise in the global market.
He also gave three suggestions for the future development of the digital economy. First, focus on breakthroughs in hard-core technology, increase investment in R&D and achieve breakthroughs in key core areas; second, pay attention to the cultivation of innovative talents and attract global talents; third, create a creative environment, improve the tolerance of failure in innovation and entrepreneurship, and encourage the testing of new industries and new forms.
