Taiwan-based electronics foundry Wistron has partnered with India's Optiemus Electronics to make products such as smartphones and laptops to boost India's electronics manufacturing industry, Reuters reported.

As part of the deal with Wistron, Optiemus will invest about $200 million over the next three to five years to upgrade electronics manufacturing, the companies said.

The partnership is expected to bring Optiemus 380 billion rupees ($5.13 billion) in revenue over five years, the company said, adding that its two factories in suburban New Delhi plan to employ about 11,000 workers. The company now has only about 300 employees.
