Asian Tech Press (June 7) -- TSMC will begin construction of its first 2nm fab in Taiwan in the third quarter of this year.
The Taiwan-based chipmaker revealed that the company is in the process of land acquisition for its first 2nm plant, dubbed the "Hsinchu N2 Fab", with construction scheduled to begin this year in the third quarter.
The Hsinchu N2 Fab, located in the Hsinchu Science Park, the northwestern Taiwan, will be built in four phases, with a total of four 12-inch fabs, and is expected to mass produce a new generation of chips for Apple phones in 2024.
TSMC President and CEO C.C. Wei said in October last year that the company's 2-nanometer process would be in mass production in 2025.
