Asian Tech Press (Nov 1) -- TSMC said that its Arizona chip plant will start mass production in 2024.

TSMC said Tuesday that the company started construction of its 5nm fab in Arizona about 18 months ago, and that construction is progressing as expected, with mass production starting in 2024 and a monthly capacity of 20,000 wafers.

The world's largest contract chipmaker plans to invite guests, including customers, suppliers, academics and government representatives, to celebrate the arrival of the first batch of manufacturing equipment to the plant in December.

Supply chain sources said that TSMC's U.S. plant will use the 3nm process to produce chips in the future, along with its 5nm process, with an estimated monthly capacity of 40,000 pieces in 2026.
