Asian Tech Press (Sep 23) -- U.S. electric car maker Tesla Inc may launch Model Y first in India in 2022, Indian media reported on Wednesday.

Tesla has been testing Model 3 and Model Y in India for several months, the report said.

However, according to a report by Indian media outlet Autocar India, the Tesla Model 3 has a ground clearance of 140 millimeters, an insufficient clearance that makes the electric car unable to pass most speed breakers in India.

If the report is true, it means that Tesla may delay the launch of Model 3 in India.

This follows reports that four Tesla models have been homologated or approved for use on Indian roads, which are probably Model 3 and Model Y variants.

Currently, the Model 3's launch may be delayed. And Tesla Model Y, with a higher end, may be the first model to be launched in India in 2022.
