LG Energy Solution and Delta Electronics collaborate to expand U.S. residential energy storage system market

On March 26, LG Energy Solution announced a strategic partnership with Delta Electronics to expand the U.S. residential energy storage system (ESS) market. According to the statement, LG Energy Solution will supply a total of 4 GWh of residential energy storage system batteries between this year and 2030, enough to power more than 400,000 households per day. LG Energy Solution will produce these batteries in the United States.

Due to problems in selecting its technological route, the South Korean lithium battery company's market share has dropped significantly in recent years. The reporter recently exclusively learned that South Korean lithium battery company LG Energy Solution has introduced the core team of the former Jiewei Power, intending to strengthen its shortcomings in the field of lithium iron phosphate batteries. In March this year, the first batch of about 20 former employees of Jiewei Power have joined LG Energy Solution Nanjing Factory, mainly engaged in R&D positions. LG Energy Solution also plans to bring in the second and third batches of former Gateway Power employees, but the specific timetable has not yet been determined. The total size of the three teams is about 200 people. In addition to R&D, they also involve different functions such as production and sales.

Toyota to purchase LG Energy Solution's automotive batteries in the U.S.

Toyota Motor of Japan said on February 18 that it will purchase automotive batteries from LG Energy Solution of South Korea in the United States, and will purchase them from the LG Energy Solution factory that General Motors decided to withdraw its investment in at the end of 2024. Toyota's order size is about US$1.5 billion, and Toyota is expected to purchase batteries for pure electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles.

LG Energy Solution China Headquarters Settles in Nanjing

According to the "Nanjing Release" WeChat account, on December 22, at the signing ceremony of major projects of the 2024 World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference, LG Energy Solution officially announced that its China headquarters will be located in Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone. The headquarters will coordinate the accounting, taxation, legal, logistics, procurement and other businesses of LG Energy Solution's subsidiaries in China, manage cross-border capital pools, carry out research and development of new energy batteries and materials, and be responsible for upstream and downstream industrial chain investment. At present, the company's battery production line intelligent project is being promoted in Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone.
