Subsequently, South Korea and the US reached an agreement on the voluntary departure of the detained individuals and their return to South Korea on chartered flights. On the 7th, South Korean Consul General in Washington, Cho Ki-jung, stated that the over 300 detained South Korean citizens would be returned to South Korea on a chartered flight as early as the 10th local time. The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 10th that the charter flight scheduled to depart that day to repatriate the detained South Korean citizens would be postponed due to certain circumstances on the US side.
