Asia Tech Wire (June 21) -- Masayoshi Son, founder of Japan's SoftBank Group, told shareholders on Friday that he plans to create an era of artificial super intelligence (ASI).

Speaking about chip unit Arm's future prospects, Son said its chips will support an ecosystem of robots and powerful data centers that can work together to cure cancer, clean houses and play with children.

"This is what I was born to do - to realize ASI," he said, without elaborating on what might come next.

Son added, "Watch me, I will make it happen."
