Asia Tech Wire (Nov 8) -- SoftBank Corp. (TOKYO: 9434), the telecom subsidiary of SoftBank Group, said it is willing to increase its investment in Japanese chip startup Rapidus.
SoftBank Corp. has informed Rapidus that it is willing to invest additional money in it, Chief Executive Officer Junichi Miyakawa said Friday.
Miyakawa said there would be a limit to the amount SoftBank could offer, given that semiconductors are not a core business area for SoftBank.
Eight Japanese companies, including Sony, Toyota, NTT, Mitsubishi, NEC, Kioxia, and SoftBank, have joined forces to form Rapidus in 2022.
