Asia Tech Wire (Sep 3) -- Chinese solar module manufacturer JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. (JKS:NYSE) said it had received tax credits under the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) for its plant in Florida.
JinkoSolar made the announcement during a conference call on Friday after reporting earnings results for the first half of 2024.
This marks the first time a PV company from China has received incentives for clean energy projects in the U.S.
Meanwhile, JinkoSolar said the company will also aggressively pursue relevant subsidies for its newly commissioned 2GW of U.S. capacity.
America's largest PV maker First Solar Inc. and South Korea-based Hanwha Q Cells have confirmed they will receive tax credits.
In late February 2019, JinkoSolar held a groundbreaking ceremony for its Florida plant in Jacksonville.
At the time, JinkoSolar said that when fully operational, the $50 million plant would employ more than 200 people and produce 400MW of high-efficiency monocrystalline perc solar cells per year.
