Asia Tech Wire (Oct 29) -- U.S. mobile, video and artificial intelligence technology company InterDigital Inc. (NASDAQ: IDCC) has signed a license agreement with Chinese smartphone maker OPPO to drop all pending litigation between the two companies.
InterDigital announced Tuesday that it has signed a new license agreement with OPPO, covering global mobile devices under the OPPO, realme and OnePlus brands.
And as part of the new agreement, the two parties agreed to drop all pending litigation.
InterDigital and Qualcomm are the two largest U.S. patent holders for wireless networking technology. InterDigital has long generated revenue by developing wireless technologies and then licensing the patents.
In 2021, InterDigital announced that it had initiated patent infringement lawsuits against OPPO, OnePlus and realme in the UK, India and Germany, covering patents related to 3G, 4G, 5G and HEVC standards.
Previously, OPPO's Chinese counterparts Huawei and Xiaomi had signed global patent license agreements with InterDigital, ending related patent litigation.
