Asia Tech Wire (July 16) -- Chinese smartphone maker OPPO has denied reports that it is laying off Huawei-tied employees at its agencies and factories across the country.
Earlier, there were reports that OPPO had recruited a large number of Huawei-tied employees after 2019, with the aim of learning from Huawei's channel system - the key account model.
However, this model has a large conflict of interest with OPPO's existing secondary dealer model.
The reports pointed out that since the middle of last year, OPPO has been conducting internal self-checks and pushing for reforms, and its agencies and factories nationwide have begun laying off Huawei-tied employees.
"At the end of last year, there was a complete layoff of Huawei-tied employees in the factory system," the reports also read.
In response, OPPO said these are false and inaccurate information involving the company, and the relevant reports are not valid.
