Asia Tech Wire (Aug 19) -- Hon Hai will cooperate with Apple to produce a tabletop robot, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily News.

The revelation of Apple's tabletop robot program has once again heated up the topic of robotics.

Citing supply chain sources, the report said that Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd. (2354.TW), a subsidiary of Hon Hai, has joined Apple's list of robotics supply chain partners because of its experience in mass-producing robotics-related parts and components.

According to the report, Foxconn Technology is mainly responsible for the development of Apple's tabletop robot mechanism and housing.

When the new Apple product comes to market in the future, the Hon Hai subsidiary will take on the heavy responsibility of mass-producing components, and become the pioneer of the Taiwanese electronics group's entry into the robotics field.
