Asia Tech Wire (Oct 8) -- Hon Hai, commonly known as Foxconn, said Tuesday that it is building the world's largest manufacturing plant for the Nvidia GB200 in Mexico.
Foxconn is the world's largest contract manufacturer of electronics and Apple's largest assembler of iPhones. The company also makes servers, meaning it is simultaneously benefiting from the artificial intelligence boom.
At Hon Hai's annual Tech Day on Tuesday, Benjamin Ting, the company's senior vice president in charge of the cloud enterprise solutions business group, said Foxconn's partnership with Nvidia is important.
Ting noted, "We're building the largest GB200 production facility on the planet."
Ting also added that everyone wants to use Nvidia's Blackwell platform and that "the demand is awfully huge."
Additionally, during the 2024 Hon Hai Tech Day, Hon Hai Chairman Young Liu noted that AI is extremely valuable for business and said that AI is redefining Hon Hai's manufacturing capabilities.
Liu emphasized that Hon Hai's supply chain is ready for this, with a degree of integrated supply of components for GB200 servers and other AI servers of up to 80% to 90%.
It's worth noting that last year Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang attended Foxconn's Tech Day, though he didn't attend this year.
