Google announced that it will launch its Pixel 6 series later this fall will be equipped with its internal processor, thereby replacing the technology that Qualcomm has provided for Google's Android devices for more than 15 years.

According to 9to5Google, the upcoming Google in-house chip will be manufactured by Samsung using a 5nm process. Sources close to Nikkei Asia suggest that the Google Tensor chipset will be manufactured using a 5nm process, which is the same as Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 888 mobile chipset and Samsung's own Exynos 1080/2100 chips.

Google has not disclosed who will produce the Tensor chips for the Pixel. Still, sources familiar with the matter told Nikkei Asia that Samsung will use its advanced 5nm process technology to OEM the chips for Google. Few companies reportedly can fulfill large chipset orders for smartphones. South Korea's Samsung Electronics is one of the few companies capable of doing so.
