Asia Tech Wire (Sep 19) -- The European Union's General Court ruled Wednesday in favor of most of the European Commission's decision, but annulled the commission's decision to impose a fine of nearly 1.5 billion euros ($1.7 billion) on Google.
The ruling said that one of the reasons the European Commission imposed a fine of nearly 1.5 billion euros on Google was that the commission did not take into account all relevant circumstances when assessing the duration of Google's contractual terms, therefore it ruled to annul the commission's decision to impose the fine on Google.
The European Commission had levied a €1.5 billion fine on Google in 2019 for blocking ads from rivals such as Yahoo and Microsoft.
