French entrepreneur Xavier Neil joins ByteDance board

Asia Tech Wire (Sep 2) -- French entrepreneur Xavier Neil has joined the board of TikTok parent company ByteDance.

Philippe Laffont, founder of U.S. investment management firm Coatue Management, has left the board of ByteDance, the company's website shows.

Meanwhile, Xavier Neil, the billionaire founder of French telecoms group Iliad, has joined the ByteDance board.

Neil founded France's first ISP WorldNet in his early years and later created Iliad.

In September 2022, Neil bought a 2.5% stake in British telecom company Vodafone through investment agency Atlas Investissement.
