Asia Tech Wire (Aug 21) -- ByteDance founder Zhang Yiming and CEO Liang Rupo jointly donated 200 million yuan ($28 million) to their alma mater Nankai University on Wednesday.

The donation will be used primarily to support math research and talent development at the university, a press release showed.

Zhang and Liang graduated from Nankai University in 2005 and founded ByteDance in 2012.
