China's Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical Group Co Ltd's BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine has received emergency authorization for use in Taiwan.

It is understood that the vaccine will be used for active immunization of adolescents and adults above 12 years old to prevent diseases caused by Covid-19 infection.

To date, Fosun has signed contracts with several buyers in Taiwan to supply 15 million doses of the vaccine to Taiwan.

On July 12, 2021, Fosun Pharmaceuticals announced that Fosun will sell a total of 10 million doses of mRNA Covid-19 vaccine to Zuellig Pharma, commissioned by TSMC, Hon Hai, and Yonglin Foundation, and the buyer will donate the vaccine to Taiwan's disease control agencies for local vaccination.

On July 21, Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation said it signed a purchase contract with Fosun for 5 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. All the purchased vaccines will be donated to competent institutions to administer the vaccine to the public.
