Asia Tech Wire (May 29) -- A consumer claimed that she bought a purse made from a Covid testing kit box on the e-commerce platform Shein.
The TikTok user named @emperkyxxxx said she bought a shiny black leather wallet on Shein.
However, after using it for a few days, she had to ruthlessly rip her new wallet in order to remove her bank card that was stuck in it.
As a result, after tearing open the shiny wallet, she realized that the inside was actually made of a Covid testing kit box.
The discovery that Shein's wallet was made from a recycled Covid testing kit box quickly became a social media sensation.
Interestingly, this is not an isolated case. Someone ripped her wallet and realized that the wallet she purchased from Shein was actually made out of a hepatitis B test kit.
While some feel that this is a bad consumer experience, optimists believe that this move at least proves that Shein is environmentally friendly.
These people think reusing and recycling is better than making more cardboard or wtv material for the wallet.
