Asian Tech Press (Nov 22) -- Chinese smartphone maker Oppo, whose parent company is BBK Electronics Corp., the world's second-largest phone manufacturer, is reportedly expected to launch electric vehicles (EVs) in India as early as 2024.

91Mobiles exclusively reported on Monday that Oppo, along with its sister brands Realme and OnePlus, are working on launching electric cars in India. And these brands have already filed trademarks for various automotive products in India, including electric and driverless cars.

The outlet has now heard from tipster Mukul Sharma that Oppo's plans for electric cars in India are indeed real and that the company has already started planning work on it.

The source also said that the launch of Oppo's electric vehicles is expected in late 2023 to early 2024.

This is not the first time such rumors have emerged. At the end of April this year, sources close to the matter said that Oppo had been making preparations to build electric cars.
