Brazil's Supreme Court decides to unblock X
Oct.9,2024

Asia Tech Wire (Oct 9) -- Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes decided on Tuesday to unblock the U.S. social media platform X, which will resume its services in Brazil in the next few hours.

The ruling came after X paid a fine of R$28.6 million to the Brazilian Supreme Court, which said that the company had fulfilled all the requirements for operating in Brazil.

On August 30, the Brazilian Supreme Court ruled to suspend the services of X in the country because the platform had not appointed a legal representative in Brazil.

De Moraes also demanded that X pay outstanding fines for failing to comply with a court order to delete accounts that appeared to have violated the law and disseminated false information, among other things.
