Asia Tech Wire (Sep 19) -- Apple has chosen to assemble the iPhone 16 in Brazil in addition to manufacturing the iPhone 16 series in China and India, according to tech outlet MacMagazine.

Citing regulatory filings in Brazil, MacMagazine said that it was Foxconn's plant in Jundiaí, São Paulo state, that did the assembly of these iPhone 16s.

The plant has previously worked on assembling iPhones, but has typically assembled mostly older iPhones.

The details of this revelation suggest that the plant is entering the lineup of factories assembling the new iPhone for the first time.

MacMagazine said that the Brazilian factory is currently assembling the iPhone 16 base model, while the assembly of other more high-end models is still taking place in China.
