Asia Tech Wire (Nov 6) -- Apple will be fined by EU antitrust regulators, Bloomberg said, citing people familiar with the matter.
The penalty is imposed under the EU's newly introduced Digital Markets Act, and Apple will be the first company to be sanctioned under the act.
The fine could be issued within this month, but the timing could still change, the report said.
The penalty is for Apple's failure to allow app developers to direct users to buy cheaper products outside its App Store, the people said, and the sanction could be accompanied by periodic fines until Apple complies with the Digital Markets Act, with the decision still being drafted.
