Asia Tech Wire (Nov 7) -- Apple is warning investors that new and future products may never be as lucrative as its iPhone business.

The iPhone maker is moving into new and unproven markets such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality headsets.

Apple added the new warning about growth and profitability to its list of "Business Risks" in its latest annual report.

"New products, services and technologies may replace or supersede existing offerings and may produce lower revenues and lower profit margins, which can materially adversely impact the company's business, results of operations and financial condition," Apple said.

Analysts have said artificial intelligence and virtual reality headsets could have lower margins than smartphones and the App Store.
