National Business Wire (Jan 16) -- Audi AG, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, Monday named Johannes Roscheck as the next president of Audi China as the company's electric vehicle push continues.

Johannes Roscheck will become president of Audi China from 1 April 2024, succeeding current Audi China president Jürgen Unser, and will co-ordinate the management of Audi's business in China, the German automaker said in a statement.

Unser, who has been president of Audi China since 1 January 2022, will return to the Volkswagen Group headquarters in Germany after more than two years in Beijing.

Roscheck, a mechanical engineer with a PhD in economics and more than 25 years of experience in the automotive industry in the areas of finance and production, is currently Head of Corporate Controlling & Finance at Audi AG.

From 2017 to 2022, Roscheck was responsible for Audi's operations in Brazil as CEO of Audi Brazil. In addition, he has held management positions in the Volkswagen Group in Hungary, the United States and Germany.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner said, "In the last two years Audi has further expanded its presence in China and implemented important milestones in our electrification strategy."

Döllner described Roscheck as an expert with international experience who will certainly be able to take an important step forward in Audi's transformation in China.

Audi plans to start producing all-electric vehicles for Chinese consumers from the end of 2024 through Audi FAW New Energy Vehicle Co. Ltd., an electric vehicle joint venture between Audi and Chinese state-owned automobile manufacturer FAW Group Corp.
