Asia Tech Wire (May 20) -- Audi and Chinese automaker SAIC Motor announced on Monday the signing of a formal cooperation agreement for the launch of several new electric vehicles.

Under the agreement, Audi will jointly develop the Advanced Digitized Platform, a new platform focused on the Chinese market, with SAIC Motor, and build a new generation of premium, intelligent, internet-connected models based on the platform.

The first batch of three pure-electric models will cover the B- and C-segment, with the first model on track for launch in 2025.

Fermín Soneira Santos, head of Audi's A- to C-segment electric vehicle lineup, will serve as CEO of the joint project.
