Xiaomi partners with Shell to sell consumer electronics at gas stations in India

Asian Tech Press (Feb 8) -- Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi Corp announced a partnership with British oil company Shell plc to sell its consumer electronics at gas stations in India.

Xiaomi's Indian unit on Tuesday announced a new partnership with Shell with the goal of making its lifestyle products more accessible to consumers.

The partnership will begin in Bangalore, known as the "Silicon Valley of India". In the center of the country's high-tech industry, Shell has first selected five gas stations to sell a range of Xiaomi accessories and lifestyle products, including a portable electric air compressor, Mi Smart Band 5, electric shaver, headphones, Redmi 20000mAh li-polymer power bank and more.

Xiaomi India said its vision is to make technology and innovation more accessible to consumers across the country, while also expanding its customer base. Through the partnership with Shell, consumers can purchase their favorite Xiaomi and Redmi accessories on their trips.

In addition, Xiaomi India last year launched its first omnichannel solution, dubbed Mi Commerce, which aims to blur the boundaries between online and offline.
