Asia Tech Wire (Sep 23) -- Vodafone Idea signed a $3.6 billion network contract with various companies, including Nokia, a filing with the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) on Sunday showed.

Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung Electronics will provide network equipment over three years to upgrade Vodafone Idea's 4G services and introduce 5G in key areas, the filing showed.

Vodafone Idea said the deal marks the first step in the company's three-year capital expenditure program of up to $6.6 billion.
