Asia Tech Wire (July 31) -- Aisin Corp., a major automotive parts supplier to Toyota, announced Wednesday that it has entered into a strategic partnership with the BMW Group to collaborate on eAxle production.

Aisin will produce the eAxle in China and Europe, which is due to fit in BMW Group vehicles by 2030.

To prepare for production in connection with this agreement, Aisin will expand one of its plants in the Czech Republic, in order to boost its supply capacity for electrified and other products.

An eAxle is a drive unit that integrates into an axle structure the main components necessary to propel a vehicle using an electric motor as the main power source, such as a battery electric vehicle (BEV).
