China-listed Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL), Tesla's battery supplier, says that solid-state battery commercialization still requires a long time.

CATL said in an institutional survey activity this week that the company has been developing solid-state batteries for many years and is in the first echelon. It can make solid-state battery samples, but the relevant indicators are still a long way from commercialization.

According to the company, at this stage of all-solid-state battery research, some scientific problems have not yet been solved.

For example, the complexity of solid-state diffusion is not an order of magnitude from liquid state diffusion. It is difficult to make a real solid-state battery fundamentally well before problems are completely solved.
