Asia Tech Wire (Aug 2) -- Apple is the second-largest smartphone maker in the world in terms of shipments in the second quarter of 2024.
According to new research from TechInsights, global smartphone shipments grew 7.6% year-over-year to 290 million units in the second quarter of 2024.
During the quarter, South Korea's Samsung topped the global smartphone market with nearly 19% market share, while Apple ranked second with 15% market share.
Xiaomi, vivo and Transsion rounded out the top five, followed by OPPO (including independent brand OnePlus), Honor, Lenovo-Motorola, realme and Huawei.
Of the top 10 smartphone suppliers, all but OPPO achieved positive year-on-year growth rates.
