Stellantis invests $406mn to revamp three Michigan plants amid EV push

Asia Tech Wire (Sep 12) -- European automaker Stellantis N.V. will invest more than $406 million to remodel three of its plants in the U.S. state of Michigan amid an electrification push.

Stellantis said in a statement Wednesday that it will invest more than $406 million in three Michigan plants, including the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, the Warren Truck Assembly Plant and the Dundee Engine Plant.

The automaker confirmed that the Sterling Heights plant will be its first U.S. plant to produce fully electric vehicles, and that the Warren Truck plant will produce a future electrified Jeep Wagoneer.

And after a remodel, the Dundee plant will assemble, weld and test battery bays for the STLA Frame architecture and machine the front and rear beams for the STLA Large architecture, which will begin production in 2024 and 2026, respectively.
