Asia Tech Wire (Oct 9) -- Spain has given Stellantis a 133 million euro ($146 million) subsidy to support its potential electric vehicle battery factory, according to Reuters.
Jordi Hereu, Spain's Industry and Tourism Minister, said on Tuesday that the country has provided Stellantis with a 133 million euro subsidy for the European automaker's potential battery super-factory project near Zaragoza.
A Stellantis spokesperson responded by saying that the company welcomed the Spanish government's decision, but that the project was still "subject to completion of all regulatory approvals" and it would make announcements "at the appropriate time".
Stellantis previously said the project, in partnership with Chinese battery maker CATL, is due to create around 3,000 jobs and require an investment of nearly €2.5 billion.
