Asian Tech Press (Nov 02) -- Elon Musk's SpaceX's Starlink has registered its operations in India and is preparing to apply for a license from the local government, according to media reports, citing senior local officials.
Starlink's local unit in India is registered as Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited. On Monday, Sanjay Bhargava, head of Starlink India, said that SpaceX now has a 100 percent subsidiary in India. Starlink plans to make 200,000 active terminals available in more than 160,000 locations in India by December 2022.
Bhargava said Starlink wants to partner with peer broadband providers, regional solution providers. The company is working with Niti Aayog, an influential think tank in India, to identify 12 regions across the country for initial Starlink deployments.
